The 3-day Ngorongoro crater and Ndutu area. Ndutu area is a seasoned safari destination which is perfect to be visited between December and March during the calving season. During this period, you will be able to witness various herbivores beside wildebeest that will be grazing from this area. The huge concentration of herbivores within this area during this period of the year bring with it different big cats that you will be witnessing during this safari.
You will also have a chance to descend to Ngorongoro crater, the crater with the biggest unbroken rim in the world. It is a home to all the big five of Africa including lions, leopards, rhinos, elephant that you will encounter with no need to hassle while looking for them. Detailed itinerary
Day 1: Arrival at arusha airport, transfer to Karatu.
Your English-speaking guide/ driver will be waiting for you at Arusha airport. On your arrival, he will welcome you, take you through your itinerary, then transport you through Arusha for your shopping and having a view of this tourism hub city in northern part of Tanzania. After the shopping, you will travel to Karatu via Mto Wambu. On arrival in karatu, you will check in at you lodge in Peak hotel where you will have a night stay and dinner.
Day 2: full day game drive at Ndutu area
After your morning breakfast, you will transfer to Ndutu conservation area, the area borders Ngorongoro conservation area and Serengeti national park ad it is famously known for the part that it plays in the calving season of the wildebeest that take place between December and April. This marks the beginning of the great migration of the wildebeest the takes place all year round within Serengeti national park of Rwanda and Masai Mara national park of Kenya. The game drive will be a fruitful one with a chance to encounter several calves of wildebeest and zebras. You will also have a chance to meet several big cats and high chances of seeing them feasting on the newly born vulnerable wildebeest. In the evening, you will return to your lodge at peak hotel in karatu for an overnight stay and dinner.
Day 3: exploration of the Ngorongoro crater, transfer back to Arusha
After the early morning breakfast, head to the Ngorongoro crater with your parked lunch. On arrival at the crater, you will descend the crater where you will be able to see the resident wildebeest within the crater. The crater also inhabits several birds including both the lesser and larger flamingos and ostriches. All this can be seen during the game drive through the crater. After the drive, you will transfer back to Arusha to catch up with your flight to your next destination and that will spell the end of your trip.
