Where to See gorillas in Uganda
Gorilla trekking is carried out in two major national parks of Uganda namely; in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park and Mgahinga National Park.
Gorilla Families in Bwindi
There are a total of 18 groups of gorilla families in Uganda, of which 17 are found in Bwindi and 1 in Mgahinga.
In Bwindi National Park : There are four major trekking sectors namely; Buhoma sector consisting of gorilla groups like Habinyanja, Katwe, Mubare and Rushegura, Nkuringo sector that has groups such as Christmas, Nkuringo, and Bushaho, Rushaga that has habituated families such as Kutu, Bikingi, Mishaya, Busingye, Kahungye, Rwigi, Bweza, Nshongi, and Mucunguzi gorilla group and Ruhija sector that comprises of gorilla families such as Mukiza, Oruzogo, Bitukura, and Kyaguliro.
In Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, visitors can only visit two gorillas habituated groups Nyakagezi & Hirwa gorilla groups.
How to Secure Gorilla Permit.
