Explore Mount Kilimanjaro on 5 Days trekking & climbing for speedy travelers and strong travelers that can make it to the peak of Mountain Kilimanjaro using the Marangu route, to explore eco system of the mountain, this hike takes you up to the top of Uhuru peak in the fastest way possible. This 5 Days Kilimanjaro hike that can only be done by mountaineers who are healthy, strong, and fast and fit because you will be moving fast and covering, long distances each day.
After exploring Kilimanjaro, you will head north to Serengeti national park and Ngorongoro conservation area for an encounter with the variety of wildlife and the true beauty of these protected area. Among the many that you are likely to encounter include the big cats, wildebeest, different bird species and many more that call these UNESCO World heritage sites home.
Brief itinerary
- Day 1: Transfer from hotel to Marangu gate, Hike to Mandara Hut
- Day 2: Transfer from Mandara Hut to Horombo Hut
- Day 3: Transfer from Horombo Hut to Kibo Hut
- Day 4: Transfer from Kibo hut to Summit to Horombo Hut
- Day 5: From Horombo Hut to Marangu gate, transfer to Moshi
- Day 6: Transfer to Serengeti national park
- Day 7&8: Full day game drive in Serengeti National Park
- Day 9: Transfer to Ngorongoro and game drive
- Day 10: Head back to Arusha Tanzania
Detailed itinerary
Day 1. Transfer from hotel to Marangu gate, Hike to Mandara Hut
You will go to Marangu gate where you will be briefed and then pick your hiking equipment. The guides and porters will be ready, and you will start the hike passing through the local settlements, tropical forests, montane forests, bamboo forest and part of the alpine. As you hike, you will hike up to Mandara hut where you will have dinner and spend the night.
Day 2. Transfer from Mandara Hut to Horombo Hut
After breakfast at Mandara Hut, you will pass through moorland area. Enjoy the giant lobelia and groundsels. Along this route, you will have a stop over where you will have your picnic lunch before continuing to Mandara hut where you will have dinner and spend the night. This hike will last approximately 7 hours.
Day 3. Transfer from Horombo Hut to Kibo Hut
Immediately after breakfast, proceed with a hike that will take you to Kibo Hut a walk that will take about 7 to 8 hours as you be in semi-desert area. Pass through the dwindling heathland that blends into a moonscape as you enter the sweeping saddle connecting Mawenzi and Kibo where you will be able to take lunch en-route. The elevation to Kibo Hut will be 4695m above the sea level and it’s where you will spend a night.
Day 4: Transfer from Kibo hut to Summit to Horombo Hut
On this day you will start the hike at around 2am, get ready with your hiking gear and headlamps, you will hike through the rocky area, the goal is to summit Uhuru peak before sun raises. Once you summit, you will have time to celebrate, take some photos and enjoy the glacier at the top of the mountain. Later you will start your descending journey which will be a little challenging and your natural stamina will be required. The descending will continue up to Horombo hut where you will be spending your night and having your dinner from

Day 5. From Horombo Hut to Marangu gate, transfer to Moshi
After breakfast at Horombo Hut, you will descend back to the base camp where your driver guide will be waiting from to drive to the lodge of your choice at Moshi where you will have your dinner and spend the night as you prepare for your next adventure in the wild.
Day 6: Transfer to Serengeti national park
After the breakfast, you will head to the magnificent Serengeti national park through the scenic landscape. While heading out of your hotel, you will go with your packed lunch that you will enjoy along the way to the park. The drive to Serengeti national park is an 8-hour drive and you will check in your accommodation for relaxation and an overnight stay at Seronera campsite.
Day 7 & 8: Full day game drive in Serengeti National Park
With two days of exploring the mighty Serengeti national park, you will be able to encounter various big cats including cheetahs, leopard, lions among others. You will also see several antelopes and other herbivores that call this park their home. Fortunately, you will also be able to meet all the big five of Africa (lion, leopard, elephant, rhinos and cape buffalos). For rhino viewing, you can opt to go for rhino tracking at Moru Kopjes. Visiting this sanctuary will also contribute on the conservation of these endangered species.
Day 9: Transfer to Ngorongoro and game drive
After exploring Serengeti, you will head back to Ngorongoro where you will descend to the crater for the game drive. This highly rewarding game drive will bring you closer to almost all the big five of Africa while living in the world largest unbroken caldera. The Ngorongoro adventure is the rewarding one with lions roaming all over the crater. Beside animals, you will witness several birds near the crater lake. Some of the common birds you will see include both lesser and larger flamingos which call this crater there home, after the exploration, you will head to Simba campsite where you will be spending your night and having your dinner from.
Day 10: Head back to Arusha Tanzania
Having explored this magnificent places to the fullest, we shall now head back to Arusha to catchup with our next flight to our next destination and that will spell the end of the 10 day Tanzania adventure safari.
