Materuni waterfall and coffee tour- A day trip

Located on the outskirt of Moshi city near Kilimanjaro national park where the highest peak on African continent in Kilimanjaro Mountain is found and just few minutes drive away from Kilimanjaro international airport, materuni waterfall is proving to be the perfect starting destination for all those planning to go for a safari adventure in Northern Tanzania. At materuni you will be able to get the grips of the local Chagga people who are the native of the area of the region. Materuni village day tour

This day experience will start from either Moshi which is about 15 minutes drive to Materuni Shamba where coffee farming is done or from Arusha city which is known as the tourism capital of Tanzania. It is always ideal to visit Materuni either on the first day of your trip or on the last day of your safari experience. For the short safari visit, you can visit Materuni on a one-day experience to explore the area and have a feel of this traditional community.

The safari to Materuni will start with a visit to Materuni shamba (farm) where you will go through the coffee making process starting from plantation of coffee to the point of making you a cup of tasty fresh coffee. The process includes planting coffee, de-weeding coffee, harvesting, drying coffee, processing coffee and making coffee for drinking during this explore. Here your good guide will take you through the history and other crops that are planted by the Chagga people.

After the coffee tour, you will start hiking to the Materuni waterfalls. Ensure to have a stead hiking shoes as it can be muddy, and the terrain sometimes tend to be slippery. However, the experience is worthy the struggle you will go through as you aim to reach these magnificent Materuni waterfalls. After the exploration, you will return to the farm where you will have your picnic lunch or freshly prepared food and have some relaxation.

Later in the evening, you will head to beneath the waterfall to go swimming where you will enjoy the fresh water of the waterfall. After getting fully exhausted with this greater adventure, you will head back to your starting point to join your guide to take you back to your lodge or continue with your adventure.
Remember that Chagga people are still traditional people who still leave their traditional way where you will have an experience of how they live their life through different performances and communication.

Materuni waterfall tour

Early in the morning, your English-speaking guide will peak you up either from your lodge or from airport and transfer you to the Materuni waterfall. You will register at the village office before starting on your great adventure to the falls.

You will start with a walk to the fall which is located 40 minutes walk away from the village. During the walk, your guide will tell you about the culture of the Chagga people, their history and their way of life explaining to you on how they go about their way of life. You will enjoy the beautiful fauna and flora in of the areas. On a good day, you will be able to witness the summit of Kilimanjaro Mountain.
The waterfall is 80 meters tall and create a beautiful view that you will enjoy while at the top of this magnificent nature. Remember to come with your swimsuit as you will be able to enjoy the swimming exercise beneath the fall where you will enjoy the fresh water of the fall to get the relaxation that your hard work deserves. After taking in all this, you will return to the base of the village and be transferred back to your lodge or to the airport to continue with your next activity.

Materuni Coffee Tour

It is not a complete Materuni village visit without participating in coffee tour experience where you will be able to participate in coffee gridding that is supported with Chagga songs, dances and other performances which will let you learn the cultures of the local people of Materuni.
You can have a taste of your gridded coffee before departing back to your lodge or to the airport to catch your next flight.
