Ngorongoro entry gates details
Lodoare gate
This is the most used gate of the Ngorongoro conservation area as it is the closest to the Arusha city which is the tourism capital of Tanzania. The gate is 140 kilometres away from Arusha making it a proper starting point for the visitor to the conservancy. This gate is also close to the hippo’s pool, making it ideal for those interested in visiting the hippos in Ngorongoro conservation area.
Naabi Hill gate
This gate can be accessed by both the visitors to Serengeti national park and Ngorongoro conservation area. The gate has got both TANAPA offices and NCAA (Ngorongoro conservation area authority) offices. You can get both the Serengeti permits and Ngorongoro conservation area this gate.
Lamera mini gate.
Located in northeast part of the park and only one hour away from Lodoare gate. The gate can be used as both exit and entry gate for the visitor, but you must get all your property cleared for you to use this gate. It is called a mini gate because it is smaller and less prominent whe compared to the other gates
Seneto mini gate
Located one and half hour away from Olduvai gorge, and about 30 minutes away from Lodoare gate. This gate like other mini gates is used to reduce the congestion from the main gates of Ngorongoro. It is both an entry and exit gate that can be used by all visitors. It is located on the western hand of the Ngorongoro crater rim.
Gate access hours
Ngorongoro gates can be accessed between 6AM and 6PM. During these hours you are allowed to enter or exit all the gates of Ngorongoro
Driving hours within the Ngorongoro conservation area.
You will be allowed to drive through the Ngorongoro conservation area between 6AM and 6PM. Beyond that time, you will not be allowed to drive through the park.
Permits and fees
For you to access Ngorongoro conservation area, you must have park entrance permit and the permits for the activities you are planning to engage in while in the park. If you are planning to spend the night within the park, you must also make sure that you have made the concession fees payment and also possess the concession permits.
