Kampala-kenya- Serali-Ikoma-Serengeti route

The journey start from Kampala through Mukono-Katosi road. You will continue to Jinja where you will have a stop over at Jinja nile resort where you will enjoy the view of river Nile and Lake Victoria. Continue to Iganga road through to Musita road. Continue to Majanji road on your way to Busia border.

After going through the custom bureaucracy, continue with the drive on Busia-Kisumu road before branching off on Homa Bay road. Homa bay will lead you to Sirari border point where you will be checked and approved to enter Tanzania. Continue with your drive to Grumeti region through tarame area. You will enter Serengeti through Ikoma gate and that will be you drive to the famous Serengeti national park

Kampala-Kenya-Serali-Ndabaka-Serengeti

Another scenic route from Kampala to Serengeti will take you from Kampala to Gayaza. It is a route that pass through the remote area will help you to avoid the traffic congestion that you are likely to experience if you use the first route. The route moves as follow.

Starting from Kampala, you will drive through Gayaza road to Kayunga. You will drive all the way to the Nile bridge. Continue to old man road, the road will lead you to Iganga where you will continue to Busia border where you will do the clearance before continuing to Kisumu.

The journey continues to sotik Narok road through to Mugari county. The drive will continue up to sirari border where you will be interviewed, and your visa be stamped to cross to Tanzania. This scenic drive will continue through Musoma-Banda, and you will enter Serengeti national park through Ndebaka gate.

Kampala-Masaka-Mutukula-Bukoba-Mwanza-Ndabaka-Serengeti

If you wouldn’t wish to go through various borders, this is the route to follow in case you don’t wish to go through various border to Serengeti. This route will only take you one border and that is Mutukula Border.

The drive will start from Kampala, to Masaka with a brief stop over at equator Kayabwe where you will have a feel of this 0-degree immerginary line before contuing with the drive to Mutukula border point for clearance to enter Tanzania. Continue to bukoba where you will take a ferry. The ferry has classes which are determined by the amount of money you will be charged. There is also restaurants and rooms where you can rest from. There is also a space for vehicle. Therefore, your vehicle will be carried with but expect some delay as the vehicle will be the last thing to be offloaded on the ferry. The fee for ferry is approximately 50$ and will take you close to 12 hours to reach your final destination at Mwanza. Then continue with your journey to Serengeti through Ndebaka gate.

By air

You can also take a direct flight from Entebbe international airport to Serengeti international airport (JRO) or Arusha airport which is the popular starting point for Tanzania northern circuit safaris. From there, you can choose to go on a road trip with a 4×4 car to Serengeti national park or choose to book the local flight to Seronera airstrip or any other airstrip within Serengeti national park where you can start your trip from.
