Tarangire national park has got two main entries and exit parks that the visitors can use to entre into the park and make the payment for the park entrance permits. Even though not as famous or popular as Serengeti national park and Ngorongoro conservation area, this park also receives a number of visitors due to its strategic location and knowing how to access it is important for the self-drive clients as travelers will always wish to combine the park with other famous parks that can be visited while in Tanzania. All Tarangire national park gates opens between 6:00AM and 6:00PM. Here are the two gates that will lead you to tarangire to have an encounter with the big herds elephants that lives in the groups of their tribes. The park is also famous for its baobab trees that dots the park.
On the western border of Tarangire national park, at the north of Sangaiwe gate is where the gate is located. It is 40 minutes away from Babati-Makuyuni route. It is mostly used by the client from the southern part of the park. You can gate your accommodation either from within or outside the park when using this route.
This is the main entry and exit point to Tarangire national park. It is located in northeastern border of the park and visitors can access it during the working hours of the day from Monday to Sunday. You can make all your payment for the park entrance from this gate. You can also pay for other special activities like game drive and hot air balloon at this gate. The gate has got security check point and ranger outpost.
The park entry fees for Tarangire national fees and concession fees for TANAPA varies from one park to another depending on the size and popularity of the park that you are visiting. These prices are also influenced by the season when you are planning to visit the park and the age of the clients that will be visiting the park.
For the foreigners who are visiting tarangire national park will be charged 59 dollars per person who is above 16 years of age. For the foreigners below 16 years and above 5 years of age, they will be charged 10 dollars. For foreigners below 5 years will be allowed to visit the park for free. For the east African resident above 16 years of age will be charged 10,000 Tanzanian shillings. For the people below 16 years and above 5 years, they will be charged 2,000 Tanzania shillings and for those below 5 years, they will be allowed to access the park for free.
The concession fees for the foreigner resident above 16 years, you will be charged 56 dollars per person per day. For the foreigners between 5 and 16 years, you will be charged 12 dollars per day per person. For those below 5 years you will not pay anything to access the park. For adult east African resident above 16 years, you will pay 35,400 Tanzania shillings. For east African between 5 and 16 years, you will pay 2500 Tanzania shillings
Note that these fees are calculated with VAT (Value added taxes) included. This explains the difference you can see in some quotation that will exclude the 18 percent taxes that you must pay to the government
