These range from shelter, beddings, cooking equipment, clothing and personal stuff. Most tour operators however offer these camping gears for rent for a certain period at a friendly cost ranging between 15-25 USD per day cumulative to the number of days your camping safari will last.

Tent

This can be a roof tent or a ground tent basing on one’s choice and preference. Travelers are encouraged to opt for the rooftop tent as the are assumed to be more secure and can be used any where independent of the weather conditions.

In case a camper opts for a ground tent, then the ground cloth will come in handy as it helps to prevent moisture from reaching the traveler in the night.

Extra stakes

These are used as backup stakes in case one of the main stakes get broken or they can be used to provide double support to the tent. These are use as the supporting sticks to the camps and sometimes they can get broken

This tent at the entrance prevents carrying dirt, sand and debris from outside the tent into the tent hence maintaining it clean.

Other equipment you will need for a camping safari include

Beddings

Sleeping bags, mattress and Bed sheets as well as blankets. The sleeping that tour companies usually offer tend to be less comfortable. Therefore, be advised to carry your own sleeping bag for your comfort.

Cooking and furniture equipment

Cooler/Portable fridge, portable gas cylinder, matches/lighter, plates, cups, knives, bowls, silver ware, frying pans, pots, frying pan lids, Cooking equipment like wooden spoons, serving spoon, spatula, tongs, bottle and can openers, among others, Folding table, Scrub and utensil soap and camping chairs.

Personal clothing

Pants/Jeans, Shorts, T-shirts/Shirts, Socks, Hat, Jacket, Sleep wear, under wear, Slippers and towels. These ones won’t be provided to you by the tour operator, make sure that you carry enough for your safari

Toiletries

Toothbrush, toothpaste, Deodorant, Comb/brush, Feminine products and toilet paper. Also, these you will need to carry them while coming on a Tanzania safari.

Except those listed above, other things one may require taking on their camping safari include Personal medication, First Aid kit, sunscreen, Torches/lamps, Bug repellants, camera, Backpack, Sunglasses, Binoculars, cell phone charger, money, passport, hand wipes, fire extinguisher, among others. Always carry some local currency with you as not all shops in Tanzania and stop points accept foreign currency
