Day 1: Welcome to Arusha

East Africa is introduced in a delightful way by the town of Arusha. It is a clean, green town with a number of good eateries and coffee shops. It’s crowded with land cruisers, safari guides, and the like because it’s known as the safari capital of Africa, but when you go on a self-drive safari, you’re setting the standard!

Day Two: Transfer to Tarangire National Park

Tarangire National Park is a great place to start your Tanzania self-drive road vacation because of its handy location close to Arusha. The two-hour drive on a smooth asphalt road is pleasant and picturesque.

The public amenities, like as restrooms and picnic areas, are kept up properly, and the game watching trails are clearly marked. There are also food trucks (bush baristas) these days.

Day 3: Taramgire National Park game drive

Attention, fans of elephants: Tarangire has the world’s highest concentration of elephants during the dry season! The park is also well-known for its profusion of baobab trees and stunning stands of acacia tortilis trees, which are the flat-topped acacias you’ve likely seen in movies like “The Lion King” or “Out of Africa.”

Tarangire boasts a world-class abundance of animals. A minimum stay of two nights is advised. You can stay for one night and proceed to Lake Eyasi if time is not on your favor.

Day 4: Transfer to Lake Eyasi

Large numbers of flamingos and pelicans call Lake Eyasi, a tiny salt lake at the base of the Great Rift Valley, home during the mating season. In addition to the natural beauty, tourists come here to learn about the way of life of the Hadzabe and Dagota tribes. They are nomadic bushmen who hunt with bows and arrows and gather wild fruits to sustain themselves. Along with participating in other community tourism activities, you can go hunting with the Hadzabe.

Day 5: Travel to Karatu or the Ngorongoro Conservation Area

You continue your car drive to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area after spending the morning at Lake Eyasi engaging in unique cultural experiences. The final village before reaching the Serengeti and NCA is Karatu. Karatu is a wonderful area to stock up on groceries and refuel your vehicle.

Day 6: Ngorongoro Conservation Game Drive

The Ngorongoro Crater offers an experience that few other safari locations can match. A safari in the Ngorongoro Crater will not let you down if you’re looking for some of the simplest and most satisfying wildlife viewing in East Africa, albeit there are larger and wilder parks. The ‘Big 5’ are only found there, and you have a very good chance of seeing them all in one day. You can traverse the most of the game-viewing paths in half a day.
There’s a lot of driving and game drives today. For your Crater safari, we recommend getting into the NCA extremely early in the morning. At the Naabi Hill Gate, you leave the NCA. It takes two more hours to go to your Serengeti resort from there.

Day 7: Serengeti full-day game drive

There is a lot of animals in the Serengeti. On your self-drive safari in the Serengeti, take advantage of numerous game drives.

Day 8: Explore the northern Serengeti

It is not recommended to travel from Seronera, the middle Serengeti, to Lake Natron in a single day. Breaking up the trip and staying close to Kleins Gate, in the northeastern Serengeti, is the best course of action. In this stunning region of the Serengeti, you can take advantage of numerous game drives while traveling. The drive to Lake Natron from Kleins Gate takes an additional four to five hours, which you will accomplish the next day.

Day 9: Transfer to Lake Natron

The journey from the Serengeti to Lake Natron via rural roads is picturesque. There is gravel on the route from Klein’s Gate to Wasso. There is hardly no traffic on the new tarmac route that runs from Wasso to Sonjo/Malambo. After Sonjo, you’ll continue on another gravel road that leads to Engare Sero. The final 20 kilometers up to Engare Sero are on a tougher road.

Day 10: Explore Lake Natron.

The shores of Lake Natron, where flamingos line the shore, are accessible by foot across the baked mud. Additionally, a stroll up to the Engero Sero Waterfalls is enjoyable. After several hours, you will arrive at a stunning natural pool encircled by palm palms and sheer granite walls. Climbing the active volcano Oldoinyo Lengai may be an option for the fit and courageous. In order to avoid the heat, this trek typically begins around midnight. It takes about six hours to reach the breathtaking views of the summit by sunrise. Oldoinyo Lengai is a difficult climb that should not be taken lightly.

Day 11: Transfer to Matadi, west Kilimanjaro

Beautiful travels on lesser-known back roads are part of today’s itinerary. The rich vistas of the West Kilimanjaro foothills offer a contrast to the arid Msaai plains and the isolated communities of Longido, Oldonyosambu, and Engare Nanyuki.

Day 12: Tour of Kilimanjaro

Staying at this genuine Maasai-run lodge will introduce you to Masaai culture. Additionally, the Kilimanjaro foothills are an excellent place to begin outdoor pursuits and additional exploration.
Activities: Simba Farm provides one-day Kilimanjaro hikes.
• River trees Country Inn offers high-quality mountain bike rentals.
• In addition to being a pleasant destination, Moshi Town is an ideal location for organizing cultural trips that include stops at banana or coffee plantations. Visit small, vibrant communities and drive around Kilimanjaro if you enjoy taking beautiful drives.

Day 13: take a coffee excursion and see Materuni Waterfall

Explore the market, gift shops, and coffee shops in Moshi town. Take a coffee excursion and visit the Materuni waterfall with your local guide. We strongly advise you to spend the night camping in Maji Moto Hot Springs.

Transfer to Kilimanjaro Airport on Day 14.

Kilimanjaro International Airport is within a 1.5-hour drive from West Kilimanjaro.
