The 13 days incredible Uganda, Rwanda and Tanzania: primates and wildlife will take you to Uganda’s Kibaale national park for chimpanzee trekking, Bwindi Forest national park for the famous mountain gorilla trekking and volcanoes national park of Rwanda where you will be doing the golden monkey trekking that inhabit the great Virunga massif range. After primate viewing in Uganda and Rwanda, you will proceed to Tanzania for wildlife viewing where you will be visiting the renowned Serengeti national park famously known for the great migration of the wildlife, the greatest animal migration in the world. You will also descend to the biggest unbroken caldera in the world in Ngorongoro crater found in the Ngorongoro conservation area.

Detailed itinerary of 13 days incredible Uganda, Rwanda and Tanzania

Day 1: pickup from Kigali airport, transfer to volcanoes national park

On your arrival at Kigali international airport, you will be picked up by your safari guide who after meet and greet will transfer you to volcanoes national park of Rwanda. Depending on the time of your arrival, you might start with a stay tour of Kigali city to get a feel of Rwandese people by visiting places like kirimanoko market and different museums in Rwanda to have glimpse of Rwanda’s past. After you will go to volcanoes where you will spend the night. The drive to volcanoes is about 2 hours.

Day 2: golden monkey trekking, Iby’iwacu cultural visit

After your breakfast, you will embark on your journey to the mountainous volcanoes national park to start the search for the endangered and playful golden monkeys. These little primates do not live at higher altitude like mountain gorillas which makes trekking them less challenging. The trek will take between 1 to 3 hours and once you encounter golden monkey, you will have 1 hour to observe them behave before returning to park headquarter where your guide will be waiting from. After here you will visit the iby’iwacu cultural village to get yourself immersed into the culture of Rwandese and witness the performance and story tell from Rwandese to let you understand the history of Rwanda.

Day 3: transfer to Bwindi national park

After the breakfast, you will embark to the journey to the southwestern Uganda in areas of Kisoro. The drive to Kisoro through chanika border is a scenic drive as you will be driving through the hill areas of Rwanda and green vegetation to Bwindi where you will arrive late in evening for your dinner, relaxation and overnight stay.

Day 4: gorilla trekking at Bwindi national park

A day for a great encounter with the magnificent mountain gorillas in their natural habitats. Very early in the morning you will head to Bwindi national park headquarter where you will be welcomed by the park guide, divide you into group of 8 people, brief you about the dos and don’ts of mountain gorilla exercise before leading you to the forest to start the search for the gentle giants of Africa. The search will last between 1 to 6 hours and once you encounter these great apes, you will be assigned 1 hour to spend with them while observing their behaviors before returning to the park headquarter where your driver guide will pick you and take you back to your lodge for relaxation and lunch.

Day 5: transfer to Kibaale national park

After the breakfast, you will join your driver who will take you on a scenic drive to Kibaale national park, the home to the endangered chimpanzees. On arrival to Kibaale, you will go for an evening walk to Bigodi swamp where you will be able to spot various bird species including the rare shoebill stork that call the swamp its home. After the exploration, return to your lodge for the dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 6: chimpanzee trekking experience

Wakeup very early in the morning, have a breakfast and head to the kibale national park headquarter for briefing for chimpanzee trekking for the morning session of the experience. On arrival at the park head quarter, you will be joined by other trekkers whom you will go with to the forest to start the search for the human closest relative in their natural habitats. As your search for chimps continue, you will be able to encounter several other primates that lives in the primate’s capital of the world as Kibaale is famously known. The park is the home to about 20 different primate species some of which you will be lucky to encounter while searching for the chimpanzees. After meeting chimpanzees, you will be allocated one hour to observe their behaviours before returning to the park headquarter your drive will pick you and return you to your lodge for an overnight stay.

Day 7:  transfer to Entebbe airport for your flight to Tanzania

After the break fast, you will embark on the journey to Kampala, the capital city of Uganda. You will enjoy this scenic drive with a stop over at 00 equator at Kayabwe to witness the creativity of God and that is where you will have your lunch from before continuing to Entebbe international airport to catch your flight to Kilimanjaro international airport where your guide will be waiting from to transfer you to your lodge in Arusha.

Day 8: transfer to Tarangire national park- game drive at Tarangire

After the breakfast, you will drive for about 2 hours to Tarangire national park. On arrival at the park headquarter, you will check-in and go for a full day game drive where you will be able to encounter several elephants, big cats, various bird species including flamingos. You will also be able to see the famous baobab trees that graces the park on top of the beautiful landscape that you will be observe all day long before going to your lodge for an overnight stay and the dinner.

Day 9: transfer to Serengeti national park-evening game drive

Wake up early with your lunch box to start your transfer to Serengeti national park with a stop over at Olduvai gorge where the first human remains are believed to have been found. After a brief visit to this historical gorge, continue with the drive to Serengeti national park where you will arrive on time for an evening game drive where you will spot the late grazers before returning to your lodge for the dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 10-11: game drive in Serengeti national park

Two days exploring the famous Serengeti national park. Taking in everything that is there to take in from the vast plain of Serengeti national park, amazing landscape to walking in the footsteps of the magnificent great migration of the wildebeest. Beside the wildebeest migration, Serengeti is also credited with the biggest concentration of lions with over 3000 lions believed to be living within the park. Actually, Serengeti is the home to all the big five of Africa including lions, leopards, elephants, cape buffalos and rhinos in Moru Kopjes among other wildlife that call home.

Day 12: transfer to Ngorongoro conservation area- game drive in the crater

Early in the morning, you will transfer to Ngorongoro crater, the biggest caldera in the world and home to all the big five of Africa. Descend to the crater for a full day game viewing before returning to your lodge in time for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 13: transfer to Arusha.

This will mark the last day of this great exploration. After your breakfast, you will be driven back to Arusha where you will catch your flight to your next destination.
